Major Modifications Consultation (2022)

Summary of modifications: 

Following on from last year’s initial Regulation 14 consultation, the feedback (lots of it – thank you!) has been collated and reviewed and some key areas of the draft DDNP have been modified. Each significant change is outlined here, in brief, and you are invited to give your feedback on these proposals. Remember, the deadline date to submit your feedback is Thursday May 5th 2022.

Major Modification 1: Amended Policy: Scale and location of housing growth

Major modifications made:

• Removal of site allocation Land north of Vince’s Road, Diss

• Removal of site allocation Land behind Thatcher’s Needle, Diss

• Removal of site allocation Land at Rose Farm Bungay Road, Scole

• Removal of site allocation Land north of B1118, Lower Oakley

• Reduction in the number of dwellings on Land south of the B1118, Lower Oakley

• Reduction in the number of dwellings on Land off Denmark Lane, Diss (including part of Roydon parish)

• Reduction in the number of dwellings allocated on Land north of the Cemetery, Diss

• New allocation for 50 homes at Land East of Norwich Road, Scole (please see the full ‘Major Modifications’ document on www.ddnp.info for more information on this)

Reason for modifications:

• The overall level of housing growth required through allocations in Diss has reduced due to recent planning permissions, which includes the Churchill development for 73 retirement homes on land behind Thatcher’s Needle.

• Further assessment work to determine the suitability of each site and its ability to accommodate the level of growth proposed.

Major Modification 2: New Policy: Regeneration of Waveney quarter

Major modifications made:

• New policy that identifies the extent of the Waveney Quarter, recognises its importance and promotes its regeneration for leisure and recreation.

 

Reason for modifications:

• Feedback received during the Regulation 14 Consultation.

• To influence growth and regeneration more effectively in this area.

 

Major Modification 3: New Policy: Diss business park

Major modifications made:

• New policy that influences development at Diss Business Park

Reason for modifications

• To influence economic growth in this area of Diss more effectively

• To reflect feedback received during Regulation 14 consultation

 

 

Major Modification 4: Surface Water Management (including flood risk)

Major Modifications Made:

• New policy area on surface water management

Reason for modifications

• To reflect feedback received from stakeholders and the public during Regulation 14 consultation

 

 

Major Modification 5: Local Green Space

Major modifications made:

• Updated policy wording

Reason for modifications

• To reflect feedback received from landowners and statutory bodies during Regulation 14 consultation.

• To ensure conformity with national policy for Green Belt.
